I am writing this only about VS "Clothing," as opposed to underwear. VS has positives and negatives. The greatest thing for me is that they have trendy fashions in XS sizes at reasonable prices (esp. when on sale). They carry styles that are young looking and sexy for adult women and small enough to fit me, so I keep shopping there. It's hard for me to find clothes in my size, so I am willing to spend a little more to get nice looking clothes that fit well. But their prices aren't that bad, and some things are really cheap. Their shipping is fast and reliable and always accurate, although I've had problems with exchanges being wrong. Their bonus awards, annual birthday gift card and coupons help you save. Beautiful photos of the clothes on models help you see how they look on, albeit on exceptionally beautiful women who comprise the top 1/2 of 1% of the world's population (if you're at all realistic, you should know you don't look nearly as good in these clothes as the models do).
I have ordered from Victoria's Secret online many times in the last 18 months. Even though the deals aren't that great I can't seem to stop myself.
The selection of items availabe is usually decent, until there's a sale on. Then you can expect most sizes and colors to become unavailable very quickly.
I love that you can use multiple coupon codes on the same order, unfortunately you can never combine the ones that are the most useful, such as free shipping and a discount. You can usually use free shipping and get a "free" item, if they're still available.
Some stores have "free shipping" coupons that you can use with any purchase amount, but no, not Victoria's Secret. You must spend at least $100 or no dice.
Typically you must also spend at least $60 in order to use a discount code.
I do most of my clothes shopping online and I shop at many stores. Every now and then I will receive great deals from other stores but I've never received a deal that is "great" from Victoria's Secret.
Victoria's Secret swim wear cannot be beat. I love all of it.
The apparel is another story. There are some very nice items but for some of the more classic pieces (plain tank tops, long sleeve t-shirts, etc) the value is low. The quality of the items do not match up with the expense of the item.
One thing about their website that annoys me to no end is being able to view an item in a different color. Some items you can click on the other colors and the color in the picture will change. Other items you only see a rectangular box with a larger view of the color. That is incredibly UNhelpful. You may go back to that page in a few days and then be able to view the other colors on the model. There is no consistency in viewing other available colors on the model in the pictures. Surely it can be that difficult to be able to see all colors on every model for every item.
Most other store websites are light years ahead of the Victoria's Secret website insofar as being able to view the item from multiple angles, see different colors on the model, read reviews on each item and be able to leave your own review, enlarge pictures, etc.
Once you are in the shopping cart and want to save an item to your wish list you have to use the search box for the item. Then you have to click on the item and pick the quantity, color, number, etc. Then you can click "save to wish list". You should be able to "save to wish list" straight from the shopping cart.
Many other stores have now gone to using a flat shipping price and those are the stores I will be continuing to shop at.
Until I see some improvement in any of the above mentioned areas of Victoria's Secret I will not be shopping online with them anymore.
On the negative side, their trendiest fashions really should not be worn by women over 30, and that is what most of their selection is. Those items are way too youthful for a mature woman, and older women who wear them just look like they are dillusional about their age or going through a mid-life crisis. Some of the trendier stuff is outright ugly, but to each her own (too many baby doll styles, and please don't bring shoulder pads back!). VS does carry some "classic" styles to appeal to all ages, but most are too casual to wear in an office setting. They seem to be leaning away from classic or classy more and more over time. There's an overemphasis on solid colors, and only recently have they been offering more fabrics with patterns (perhaps due to my repeated complaints to them about this). Most tops have either plunging necklines or are high at the neck, and not enough in between. Sizing is based on a minimum height of 5'4", so as a person shorter than that, I'm disappointed they don't carry petites. Their sizing is inconsistent, as I usually take an XS across the board at other stores, but I sometimes find XS too small at VS and have to return them to get a S instead (seems to be mostly in sweaters, but not all sweaters). I never know if I ordered the right size until I get the items and try them on. Their return charge makes this an irritation, because when you order online, there's a good chance it won't be quite what you had expected. I wish they would make returns free if you exchange the item for the same one in a different size or color. I feel cheated when I have to exchange an item and pay shipping on the return. They only show one view of most items, so you can't see how it fits all around. There are many online shopping sites that show all of their clothes from front and back, and some even 360 degrees. With the popularity of VS, I'm sure they can afford one more photo of each item from a different angle (unless their models are using up their budget). That would help a shopper better decide if the item will work for them. (Hint: if it's extra tight on the model, it probably runs a bit small, so order the next size up.) The quality of their clothes is inconsistent too, as some items I've bought fell apart within a year, while others have held up well. Another thing I dislike about VS online is their Wish List. It limits how many items will show on screen, without letting you access older items that are pushed off as you add new items to the list.
